If you want to zero down on places to visit in India during Diwali, it might turn to be a Herculean task. There are globe trotters who visit India just to experience this vibrant festival. After all, the places to visit in Diwali vacation are simply galore. However, the beauty of Diwali celebrations in India is that it varies from one region to another. Although the entire nation is in a festive mood, the celebrations and the faith systems differ from state to state and city to city. And every different kind of celebration simply opens up an opportunity for travellers to explore a lot more of this festival.

Some of the places to visit during Diwali vacation include Kolkata, Chennai, Amritsar, Varanasi, and Goa. Rest assured, you are in for an amazing treat if you happen to travel to these locations during Diwali.

While the generally practiced norm of Diwali in India is to worship Goddess Laxmi, the concept is different in the City of Joy, Kolkata. It is one of the best Diwali holiday destinations and although the residents of Kolkata celebrate in a similar fashion by burning crackers and lighting diyas, it is Kali Puja in this part of the country. Since Goddess Kali is considered to be the one who defeated evil, Bengalis carry the same sentiments while lighting up the diyas and burning the crackers. Besides, just like Durga Puja, there are beautiful Kali Puja pandals all across the city along with beautiful lighting decorating every corner of the city.
